About this site

Repaplex answers one question per page: should this appliance be repaired, or replaced? The British edition carries the pages of repair charges and ranges in pounds that British sources publish; the remaining guides, the calculator and the price data on this site are United States and Canadian market data, linked and labelled as such.

How a page is made

• Numbers come from published price guides and, where one exists, from a repair company that publishes the median of its own completed jobs together with the sample size.
• Where a source publishes ranges but no job count — as none of the British publishers cited here does — the page reproduces the ranges as published and says so, instead of turning a range into a median.
• Where a source publishes a sample, the page prints what that sample is: the consumer organisation cited here surveys traders, so its sample is a number of businesses and not a number of repairs, and the page never prints it as a count of repairs.
• Where one publisher prints two different figures in two editions, both are shown with their own dates, because choosing one or averaging them would be this site’s decision rather than the source’s.

What this site is not

• It is not affiliated with any appliance brand and it is not a repair company. We do not repair appliances and we do not sell anything.
• It is not a quote. Prices are the figures the source cited on the page publishes: pounds on the British pages, United States and Canadian market figures on the guides linked through to those editions. Your quote in the United Kingdom will differ.
• It does not replace a certified technician for gas appliances, sealed refrigeration systems, or anything involving the electrical installation of a home.

Corrections

If a figure is wrong or stale, write to janos@maczko.eu with the page address and the source that contradicts it. Corrections are applied to the record, and the page is regenerated from it.
